Protecting Infrastructure and Workers from Lead & Asbestos on Cape Cod
At the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) building in Orleans, MA, our team performed a two-part environmental remediation project that combined lead paint abatement and roof asbestos abatement.
As a trusted partner for state and municipal projects, we take pride in providing safe, compliant, and efficient services that protect both infrastructure and the people who maintain it.
Lead Paint Abatement: Restoring Safety from the Ground Up
The first phase of the project involved lead paint abatement on the facility’s exterior and structural components. Our crew utilized containment barriers, HEPA filtration, and wet methods to safely remove lead-based coatings while preventing the spread of hazardous dust or debris.
We worked closely with the client’s on-site safety personnel to ensure the project area remained accessible for essential operations, following EPA RRP and OSHA 1926.62 standards throughout.
The result: a clean, lead-free surface ready for repainting and long-term protection against corrosion — without interrupting daily operations.
Roof Asbestos Abatement: Precision in Every Layer
The second phase focused on roof asbestos abatement, where our technicians removed and disposed of regulated asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in strict compliance with MassDEP and EPA NESHAP regulations.
Using full containment, negative air pressure systems, and HEPA filtration, we abated the asbestos roofing materials down to the clean substrate. Every section of the work zone was sealed and monitored for air quality to ensure zero exposure risk to nearby staff or surrounding properties.
Waste materials were properly packaged, labeled, and transported to an approved disposal facility, with full chain-of-custody documentation maintained for regulatory compliance.
Safety and Professional Coordination
Working on an active state facility required detailed communication and coordination. From permitting to clearance testing, our licensed supervisors ensured that every phase of the project met state and federal standards — all while maintaining the project schedule and minimizing disruption to site activities.
We understand the importance of these public service buildings and approach every task with the precision and accountability they demand.
Creating Clean, Compliant Workspaces for What Comes Next
Our work at the Orleans MassDOT facility is another example of how we help public and commercial clients protect their investments and maintain compliance with evolving safety regulations.
