Safe, Precise Asbestos Tile Abatement in a High-Traffic Community Facility
We were recently contracted to perform tile asbestos abatement and mastic asbestos removal at a busy YMCA in Massachusetts. Because this location serves thousands of local residents every week, our top priority was to complete the work safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to daily operations.
Our team handled all regulatory requirements, containment, and removal procedures in full compliance with MassDEP, MassDLS, and EPA NESHAP standards. The result was a fully cleared, ready-for-renovation space — delivered on schedule and with zero safety incidents.
Regulated Tile & Mastic Abatement Scope
The project involved removing asbestos-containing flooring materials from two elevated landings:
Landing #1
- Removal of approximately 110 sq. ft. of asbestos-containing floor tile
- Removal of the associated asbestos mastic
Landing #2
- Removal of approximately 85 sq. ft. of asbestos-containing floor tile
- Removal of the associated asbestos mastic
By using controlled wet methods, negative air containment, and HEPA-filtered engineering controls, we ensured that no fibers escaped the regulated area throughout the abatement process.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety Protocols
As with all tile asbestos abatement projects, we managed:
- The ANF-001 (ten-day notification) to MassDEP
- Construction of a secure containment zone
- Operation of negative air machines with HEPA filtration
- Removal, double-bagging, and proper labeling of all ACM
- Full manifesting and transport to a licensed disposal facility
- Coordination of independent third-party clearance, per MassDLS regulations
These steps protect building occupants, staff, and our technicians — and ensure the space meets strict state and federal standards before re-occupancy.
A Clean, Compliant Asbestos-Free Space Ready for Renovation
Once abatement was complete, our team performed a full HEPA cleaning and prepared the site for the independent hygienist’s visual and air clearance. After passing all required tests, the landings were safely released for future renovation activities.
Whether it’s tile asbestos abatement, mastic removal, or full-scale facility remediation, we’re committed to providing fast response, clean work, and proven regulatory compliance — every time.
